Crybaby is seen to be a character persona created by Melanie Martinez. She is said to be a character based off of the crazy and messed up side of Melanie Martinez, as said by Melanie herself on her Tumblr. She is seen to be brunette as seen by the storybook however in the visuals she has half-toned hair. This may be due to Melanie Martinez acting as Crybaby.
CRYBABY - 0-3 OR 4[]
She was born to an imperfect family. Her mother claimed she was a Crybaby. Her brother later wrote Crybaby on her birth certificate, giving her the unusual name. It is unknown whether he did this out of confusion. She wakes up in her crib. Her mother attempts to feed her but Crybaby refuses. She then eats the food angrily. Her toys become alive and start pulling her hair. This is the first time she is seen to do some thing supernatural, or have something supernatural happen to her. She starts crying and forms a puddle of tears. It is now seen that the tears are leaking through a dollhouse window, connected with Dollhouse.
Everyone thinks her family is perfect when it isn't. Her mom is an alcoholic, her dad is cheating on her mum with a mistress and her brother is a smoker.
Her mother then kills her father due to her being angry about his infidelity. Crybaby goes to the kitchen and sees the corpses. The mother comes behind her and chloroforms her. She ties Crybaby to the bed and gives her a liquid/drugs her so she can sleep and forget what she saw.
Crybaby goes to a Carnival. She meets Alphabet Boy who is her first boyfriend. Alphabet Boy is seen to be cunning and manipulative. Alphabet Boy leads her to the Carousel, tying her there and leaving her there. She escapes the carousel and runs.
She tells Alphabet Boy that she is smarter than him and he can't belittle her. She tells him how no matter how much he tries to pull her down, she gets stronger.
She meets a new boy named Johnny and she befriends him. She develops feelings for him. She is scared that if she confesses her feelings to him, the friendship will end and she might develop a bad relationship with him. Therefore, making her feel like she should wash her mouth out with soap so she will forget to say anything. She finally tells her how she feels and she gets accepted. She then kisses Johnny.
They wake up in a field. She tries to teach him how to ride a bicycle with no training wheels and succeeds. She wants to level up and upgrade the relationship however Johnny is not ready.
She has her 3rd birthday coming up so she invites Johnny and her friends. None of which came to her birthday. She goes insane and tears all her stuffed animals. She nearly burns her house down.
She throws away her decorations and goes to the shop to buy some groceries. The cashier gives her a poison, she is confused but she takes it. She goes to the ice-cream truck with Big Bad Wolf as the ice cream man. She asks for something that looks like strawberry ice cream but the ice-cream man suggests a different kind of ice-cream that looks like cookies and cream. She nods and buys the ice-cream. She eats the ice-cream. The ice-cream has a drug that makes her fall down, unconscious. The Big Bad Wolf takes her unconscious body and throws it in his van and drives off.
Crybaby wakes up in a toy box. She gets out of the toy box and reads a note ordering her to make the Big Bad Wolf some milk and cookies. She poisons the milk and cookies as the Big Bad Wolf takes a phone call. She gives him the poisoned milk and cookies. He starts to choke. She pours milk on his head. He dies. She leaves the Big Bad Wolf's house.
She goes to a playpen where she is later joined by a couple. The boy is clearly unhappy with the girl, but he's in it for the look. She tries to get the boy away from the girl. She also tries to say she's a better lover. Only to lose when the girl leaves with the boy.
Now seeing that beauty makes people happy, she goes home and watches attractive women appear on the screen. She goes to the bathroom and puts on a wig, takes a pill and puts tissues in her shirt to make it look like she has big breasts. She goes back and Ms.Potato Head appears on the screen. It shows of a woman who later gets plastic surgery to impress her husband. It fails and he leaves her for another girl only to do the same. Crybaby then sees she's perfect the way she is. She removes the tissues and takes off the wig.
She later accepts that she fully is crazy. She has a dream where she goes through different experiences while she continuously gets saved by some Rushton Dolls. Her powers also get so strong to the point her eyes turn completely black when she uses them.
