Spoiled Kids is a song on Christmas Present. It is to be released on December 24th, 2017, along
with the rest of the album.
Theme[]
Spoiled Kids is the saddest song on the album, about young and rich children not getting what they want for Christmas, like a phone or money. It talks about how the true meaning of Christmas (and life) isn't getting- it's giving.
Lyrics[]
[Verse 1]
I want a phone
Well I want a Maserati
(But you canβt drive)
(Shut up)
I want lots of money
I already have a lot of money
So do I
But I want even more
[Chorus]
Gimme what I want
Everything that I want
If I donβt get what I want
Itβs not pretty
[Verse 2]
I feel sorry for the poor folks
All their presents are so shitty
Cyring in their tenements
Lookin at our mansions
[Chorus]
Gimme what I want
Everything that I want
If I donβt get what I want
Itβs not pretty
[Bridge]
(Spoken through sobs:) I didnβt get the IPhone X
I only got the 8
My parents are trying to ruin my life
[Chorus]
Gimme what I want
Everything that I want
If I donβt get what I want
Itβs not pretty
[Outro]
We
Weβre
Weβre just the spoiled kids
Trivia[]
- It was a difficult song for Melanie to write, since she "didn't want it to look like I was bashing rich kids."
- She was inspired when her younger brother, Joseph Martinez, didn't get the present he wanted on Christmas. Instead, he got something he "liked better".
- The song is written from the perspective of the spoiled kids.
